Strong worker-client relationships are the cornerstone of a fruitful freelance experience. Those who take the time to build bonds with the folks that they do projects for are far more likely to have a strong bond going forward. They are also in a better position to get more work from those same individuals down the line.

Being an independent contractor means foregoing things such as benefits like health insurance and 401(k) benefits.
